St. Lucia’s Bartender Gets Bronze Medal Internationally

Fanilia Austin of the Windjammer Landing Village Beach Resort & Spar was the Bronze Medal winner in the Taste of the Caribbean competition held at the Carib Hilton in Puerto Rico.

Ms. Austin who won the annual Chairman’s Bartender’s Competition in 2007 was automatically chosen as part of the award to represent St. Lucia at the International Competition.  Ms. Austin participated in the three categories of cocktail mixtures; non alcoholic drinks, rum based drinks and vodka based drinks. The St. Lucia Distiller’s product Kweyol Spice Rum was used in the rum based drinks category.

Ms Austin was part of the team made up of Pastry and General Chiefs who won the Silver Medal Medals in their respective categories and she has been chosen by the Caribbean Hotel Association to represent St. Lucia in the competition in 2010.

Chairman’s Country Train a Big Success

The Chairman’s Reserve Country and Western Train climaxed in the Grand Finals on Saturday 6th June at the Prio’s Country Palace in Castries.  The competition which began on the 11th of April was held island wide through eight communities with the winners of each competition participating in the Finals.

Valencia Dorville and Eushiby Charles of Micoud emerged the Grand Champion after a fantastic performance grabbing the 1st place prize of the Trophy, $1,000.00 Cash, Hamper, and Dinner for two at the Sandals Hotel.  In 2nd place were Jules Arthur and Theresa Williams of Castries who walked away with $500.00, Hamper and Dinner for two at Le Sport and 3rd place going to Shane Ephraim and Shernell Amedee of Tomazo with the prize of $300.00, Hamper and Dinner for two at Rendezous.

Organizers of the Chairman’s Reserve Country and Western Train were pleased with the participation and attendance at the different events and are looking forward to the next Train.  Patrons also got opportunities to win prizes such as Cell Phones, Weekend Holidays, Shopping Spree and Products.  The Event which was in its 2nd year was sponsored and organized by the St. Lucia Distillers Company, producers of the internationally known Chairman’s Reserve Rum.

St. Lucia Distillers Group of Companies Supports Calypso 30!

The St. Lucia Distillers Group of Companies once again expressed and showed its support for St. Lucia’s Calypso when it presented its Sponsorship cheque to the Organizers of the Calypso 30 Event which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 28th February at the Pigeon Island Landmark.

At the official handing over ceremony, Ms. Jennifer Gaston the Marketing and Communications Manager indicated that the Company has over the years provided the much needed support to this particular Art form and its development through the sponsorship of Calypso Tents and Shows.  Ms. Gaston indicated that the Company will continue to support such Events which portray St. Lucian talents, and this Event which is associated with the island’s 30th Independence Celebrations is ideal.

Mr. Fulgence St. Prix accepted the Cheque on behalf of the Organizers STARTS, and thanked St. Lucia Distillers Group of Companies for their continued support in the Calypso Arena.  Mr. St. Prix indicated that the Calypso 30 Event is one to look forward to as it will portray many of the popular Calypsos over the last thirty years and will feature both young and seasoned Calypsoians.

St. Lucia Distillers presented a cheque of EC$1,500.00 and products to the worth of EC$1,000.00 for the Event.

Chairman’s Reserve Support the Festival Des Sens

The Third Annual Festival Des Sens with the support of its main sponsor Chairman’s Reserve will be held in the Village of Anse La Raye from November 14th to 15th.  The Event which is shaping up to be the best Festival to date will host bands from Martinique and St. Lucia beginning with acoustic performances in the various bars by the Martinique bands on the evening of Friday 14th at the Anse La Raye Fish Fry.

On Saturday 15th November the show will begin at 12.00 pm at the La Sikwi Sugar Mill with performances by Epizot, Lulu Borgia, Grass Hoppers of Martinique and Ken Hardy & the Soul Drez, Afro Lyrics with Luther Francois, Off Island and Social Artiste of St. Lucia.  Side performances by the Anse La Raye Junior Steelband and piano soloist Sofphee Allais will entertain the audience during the band breaks.

Clint Adjodha of “The Place on Earth Organisation”, is the Manager of the event and he has indicated that coming from last year’s festival success, he is expecting an even larger attendance and is happy to be able to showcase St. Lucian talent alongside our Martinique neighbors.  Mr. Adjodha is working alongside CBX, the organizer of the Festival des Sens in Martinique who have been able to arrange sponsorship for the Martinique bands performing and the Festival in St. Lucia.

Mr. Adjodha expressed his appreciation to the main sponsor Chairman’s Reserve who has provided the much needed support for the Festival for the last two years.  Tickets for the Festival can be purchased for $35.00 in advance and $40.00 at the venue.

St. Lucia Distillers supports “De Invader” at the 2008 SAO Trustees Awards

The St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies, producer of the island’s well known Bounty Rum is continuing in its support to the Soca Village Calypso Tent leader Ignatius “De Invader” Tisson upon his nomination for an award at the upcoming 2008 Soca Awards Organisation to be held in St. Kitts on Saturday 18th October, 2008.

Mr. Tisson will be a recipient of the 2008 Trustees Award in recognition of his contribution to the Soca music art form and its development over the last twenty – five years in St. Lucia and the Caribbean.  The prestigious event will be held at the Marriott Event Center, under the patronage of the St. Kitts Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture – Senator Richard “Ricky” Skerritte.

St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies is proud of Mr. Tisson and his continued work in the development of the Calypso and Soca art form in St. Lucia and is pleased to make a financial contribution towards his preparation for this prestigious Event.

St. Lucia Distillers supports the Canaries Kwéyòl Festival

The St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies continues its support to the local traditions and culture through its sponsorship of the Canaries Community Club in its hosting of Jounén Kwéyòl activities in Canaries village through the month of October, 2008. 

Through one of its main brands Bounty Rum, St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies will be supporting such activities as the Kwéyòl Dance and Community Project on Saturday 25 October, as well as the main Jounén Kwéyòl event on Sunday 26. Bounty will also be sponsoring the Canaries contestant for the Creole King at the National La Wenn Kwéyòl Pageant Finals to be held on Friday 24 at the National Cultural Centre.

St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies is committed to assist community activities which develop and maintain the island’s culture with its longstanding sponsorship of the Anse La Raye Fish Fry, the Dennery Fish Fry and the Canaries Creole Pot.

Toz Rum
TØZ Gold Tasting Note: Golden Amber appearance with red tinges at the rim. intense pot still aromas with sweet molasses and raisin fruit on the nose. Mellow with honeyed fruit, spice and a long finish.


Admiral Rodney
Tasting Note: Bright amber, mahogany colour. Incredibly attractive nose packed with complexity. Rich honeyed fruit with prunes, sweet raisins and well integrated oak toast. On the palate concentrated, complex with velvety caramel crème brulee and hints of vanilla, spice and chocolate from long ageing. Well balanced and harmonious with an exceptionally long finish.


Chairman's Rum
Tasting Note: Good dark brown amber colour. The pot still richness comes through on the nose with sweet honeyed fruit and spicy vanilla from the oak. The palate is balanced, with a mellow but complex mix of ripe raisin fruit, tobacco and spice. The rum has a long enjoyable finish. In St. Lucia Chairman’s reserve is best enjoyed with coconut water but can be drunk neat or with a chaser of your choice.


Bounty Rum
Tasting Note: Medium bodied with ripe sultana fruit, vanilla from the oak and a hint of spice. Good balance, clean and with an enjoyable finish.


Crystal Rum
Tasting Note: Clean with a fresh tropical citrus on the nose. On the palate some sweetness gives a mellow texture but the rum is balanced by a vibrant citrus character. An excellent mixing rum which is used locally in Cuba Libres and Daiquiris.


Crystal Lime
Tasting Note: Balanced and wonderfully refreshing with a sweet mouth feel and an explosion of zesty lime fruit. Clean, not oily, with natural lime citrus flavours, this can be mixed with tonic to get a wonderfully fresh long drink.
